ZModeler Tutorial v2.0 |
Making Wheel Wells
Thanks to Midtown_Master for showing me, and the rest of the MM2 community this
method of making wheel wells. It is much more efficient and less time consuming
than the method I used in my previous tutorial.
We now must create the wheel wells for the vehicle so there is room to place a tire.
Go to Create>Faces>Fan and create a
fan to match the number of vertices you have on your wheel well.
Press Ctrl+Z when you are finished creating it. It should look something
like this:
Then create the faces in between the fan and the main body.
It should now look something like this, with horrible normals for the most part.
Now, select the vertices that are at
the center of the car.
Move these vertices to a position that would be relative to the tire on the blueprint, giving you a result like this:
The next step to making your wheel
well is to move the selected vertices to the vertices in the main body.
Now that you have this done, your
model may have normals problems:
To correct this, use the Detach/UniteSelect method that I showed you in an earlier section. Remember to calculate the normals for each piece that is detached!
Now repeat these steps for the rear
wheel well. Your vehicle should look somewhat like this:
Alternatively, you can create a flat surface to emulate the wheel well wall. However, there is a chance of having visible gaps if it is not done properly.
Next, we will complete the bottom of
the van.
